I’m probably a little late to the party seen as Dec 1st is tomorrow but with amazon prime you’ll be fine to order one today. I am so excited to put Alyssia’s advent calendar together tonight.
Chocolate Advent Calendars – Lets approach this subject head on. Is it okay to give my toddler chocolate? Yes, if that’s what you want to do, go for it! Is it okay not to want to give my toddler chocolate? Yes, of course.. It is entirely your choice & if you don’t want your toddler to have chocolate, don’t. You are the parent so it is your choice. Now I was once the parent that said I wouldn’t give my toddler chocolate (I know, I know) but then she was diagnosed with CMPA and I felt like she was missing out on so much. Up until now I’ve never had the chance to give Alyssia chocolate, some might say that’s a good thing & I agree but I can’t help but feel like she’s missed out a lot, since starting her on dairy again she has had the odd bite of my kitkat & she has enjoyed it. I think this year we will get her an advent calendar, now that she is nearly 2 she’s at the age where she understands. A small piece of chocolate after breakfast in December isn’t going to do her any harm & this way she can be the same as mummy & daddy.
Happyland Advent Calendars – I absolutely love this idea & feel like it is something that all toddlers would love, I have seen these in Mothercare and they are priced at £25. At first I couldn’t help but feel like this was way too expensive for an Advent Calendar but I suppose for £1 a day you can’t really go wrong with toys that your toddler will love.
Toot Toot Advent Calendars – Toot Toot also do a lovely advent calendar which is also priced at around £25, again it has toys in each window & the end product represents a track for the drivers set or an animal track for the animal set. I think this would be a lovely advent for anybody not doing chocolate this year or for children who have CMPA like Alyssia.
Make your own – When I was younger my mum would always make ours herself & fill each pocket with different chocolates/sweets. I loved waking up in the morning & finding our advent before school there was just something I loved about it more than a basic chocolate calendar, I liked the fact that my mum had gone to so much effort to make our christmas magical.
Book advent – This is another idea that I LOVE and think it is great for babies & toddlers, you can let them open one book a day & then read that story to them at bedtime. If we didn’t already have so many books in the house I would totally do this, but this year I am doing a Christmas Eve box & will be putting a book inside there instead. If you go on the works or shop around you will be able to buy books in bundles costing you less than £20 for 25 books.
As I said, with amazon prime you’re never too late.
