So I thought I would write a post about Alyssia’s ‘firsts’ now that she is very nearly a whole 1 years old. Looking back on her photos has made me an emotional wreck but I am so so proud of the little lady she has become. She is full of cheeky smiles & has such a bubbly personality already.
So let’s get started..
Smiling & laughing – Alyssia started smiling at just a few days old. Most people will say that this is just the ‘windy’ smiles but trust me, it was a smile & I don’t care what anybody says.. it was adorable!!
She started laughing at around 3 months old, I remember the first time she ever giggled and my heart felt so full like it was going to burst.
Rolling – Alyssia started rolling at just 4 months old. She was very strong holding her head up at such an early age as we did tummy time from just 5 days old, so it’s not surprising she started rolling early.
Sitting up – Alyssia started to sit with help at around 4 months but sat unaided at 5 months, I was so paranoid that she would fall back and hit her head so we bought foam play mats to put down on the floor.
Crawling – Alyssia started to crawl at 6 months old. She would always manage to somehow do a 360° turn whilst lying down since 4 months old so I was always amazed at what she would be like when she started to crawl. At first she bum shuffled backwards, and didn’t understand how to move her knees without faceplanting (oops). She finally started to crawl at 6 months old, and after 2 weeks of constant crawling we nicknamed her ‘speedy gonzalez’ haha!
First foods – Alyssia tried her first foods at 5 1/2 months old (advised by the doctor) After she decided that she no longer wanted to drink her milk no matter how much I tried to give it to her – she started losing weight because of this so the doctors advised me to start weaning at few weeks early. I personally felt that she was way too small to start ‘babyled weaning’ which is what I originally planned to do. So we started with purees, and then went onto soft but solid foods. Her first solid foods were cucumber and melon sticks.
Standing – Alyssia started to stand unaided at about 8 months old – she was always unsure and would fall down again when she realised that I wasn’t holding her but she got the hang of it eventually.
First words – Alyssia’s first word was “mumma” of course… and her second words were “dadda and babba” She can now say “mumma, dadda, babba, yes, car & hiya” at 11 months old.
First tooth – She got her first tooth yesterday at 11 months old – and her second ironically overnight today (2 days before her birthday) She won’t stop touching them now that they’re finally there. I was quite concerned at one point and actually asked the health visitor whether or not it was normal that she had no teeth yet? (This was at 10 months) but she said it’s actually good that she has gotten them later as they have less chance of rotting.
First steps – Alyssia has been taking a few steps for a while now since around 9 months old but has finally started walking at 11 months old (a week before her first birthday) I never thought I’d see the day, she turned into a lazy baby when it came to standing and would much rather chase you arround by crawling. But my babygirl is growing up and is turning into a toddler – scary!
Alyssia can now clap & wave bye bye confidently, she is also getting very good at climbing up on things that she shouldn’t and crawling away & hiding when I tell her it’s time to change her bum – yes the terrible twos have started early.. I am not liking how fast this past year has flown by but I am so so proud of my babygirl and will continue to be proud of her for the rest of my life.
